Madiba Foundation for Good Governance as part of its Organising for a New Nigeria programme launched the I-Pledge-To-Vote Campaign in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

The aim of the campaign is to mobilize the citizens, especially young people, to register, get their PVCs and turn out en masse to vote in the 2023 general elections.

In his welcome address, the Chief Operating Officer of Madiba Foundation for Good Governance, Mr Frederick Adetiba said that most of the challenges that are confronting the country today such as insecurity, widespread poverty, the ongoing ASUU strike, and several others result from poor leadership.

Frederick also noted that failure of leadership is also the failure of the citizens because the citizens are the ones who elect these leaders directly or indirectly. In closing, he encouraged Nasarawa youths to ensure they participate meaningfully in the electoral process.

Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi Adamu, the CEO of Nasarawa Investment and Development Agency (NASIDA) presented the keynote address. In his address, Mr Adamu spotlighted the important role young people have to play in promoting good governance and development in society.

Other speakers, such as Ms Amina Aminu (Meenaceleb) and Mr Retson Tedheke challenged the youths to participate in the next general elections. Mr Tedheke said if young people could participate in Big Brother Naija by voting for their favourite housemates, they should be able to participate in the process of electing our political office holders.

The event featured musical performances by Styl Plus and Classiq, both of whom also encouraged the participants to register and vote in the next general elections.
