Madiba Foundation Partnered with INEC on Voters’ Registration

Madiba partners with INEC on voters' registration

Madiba Foundation partnered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Management of Garki International Market, Abuja, to carry out voters’ registration and education in the market.

This exercise is part of the I-Pledge-To-Vote campaign that has been going on in parts of the Country, to encourage more people, especially young people, to participate in the next general elections.

Before this, the Foundation conducted a sensitization exercise in the market, where several shop owners decried their inability to register for their PVCs. Other challenges that were expressed include relocation of polling units and replacement of defaced or lost cards.

This then prompted the team at Madiba Foundation to quickly liaise with INEC and the management of the market to organise the registration exercise within the market to enable those who are yet to be registered to do so. Those who needed help with relocation and application for replacement were also assisted on the spot.

The exercise, which was conducted for two days, also allowed the Madiba team to encourage the people to turn out and vote during elections in 2023, to improve the credibility of the process and strengthen our democracy.

The shop owners and the Management of the market were elated about the opportunity to register for their PVCs as the official closing date for the exercise drew near.

The I-Pledge-To-Vote Campaign is a project under Organising for a New Nigeria, the flagship programme of the Foundation that is aimed at galvanising youth energy and skills for the development of Nigeria.
